Job Description

The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, and management of medical equipment and healthcare technology within county health facilities. The officer will ensure that medical devices operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with healthcare standards to support quality patient care services.

Requirements

  • Installing, testing, calibrating, and commissioning biomedical equipment and devices;
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment;
  • Diagnosing faults and recommending corrective actions on biomedical systems;
  • Ensuring safety and proper functioning of hospital equipment and machinery;
  • Maintaining records of equipment maintenance, servicing, and repairs;
  • Advising management on procurement, replacement, and disposal of biomedical equipment;
  • Monitoring equipment performance and ensuring compliance with technical standards;
  • Training healthcare staff on proper operation and handling of medical equipment;
  • Participating in inspection and acceptance of newly procured medical devices;
  • Coordinating equipment servicing schedules and maintenance plans;
  • Ensuring adherence to occupational safety and infection prevention standards;
  • Preparing technical reports and inventory updates on biomedical assets;
  • Supporting installation and maintenance of oxygen plants and related medical systems where applicable;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
